Applications are being accepted to serve on the Wise County Appraisal Review Board.

The ARB is a group of private citizens authorized to hear appeals and determine protests for ad valorem tax purposes. The ARB is a separate authoritative body and are not employees of the Wise County Appraisal District. ARB members are appointed by the local administrative District Judge of Wise County.

To be eligible for appointment, an applicant must have been a Wise County resident for two years, and never have been employed by, or been an officer or director of the Wise County Appraisal District, along with other eligibility restrictions provided in Texas Property Tax Code Section 6.412.

ARB service typically runs several days beginning in May until July. The ARB also meets periodically throughout the remainder of the year to carry out supplemental duties. Per diem compensation is generally in the amount of $175 per session.

If you are interested in serving, applications for potential ARB members will be accepted by the Wise County Appraisal District ARB Coordinator on behalf of the Local Administrative District Judge.  ARB member applications can be found on the Wise CAD website www.wise-cad.com under the Organization – ARB Members section. We are looking for an organized, responsible clerical worker to join our growing organization.  In this position, you will perform a variety of administrative and clerical tasks.  Organizational and customer service skills are a must.

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare correspondence, documentation, and other materials
  • Maintain and update files and database
  • Answer phone calls and transfer to appropriate party
  • Take detail notes during meetings and type/transcribe notes provided from meetings
  • Organize meeting schedules
  • Photocopy, fax and email as needed

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma
  • Previous experience handling office responsibilities and experience in customer service preferred
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Highly organized multitasker who works will in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Deadline and detail oriented

Wise County Appraisal District is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Wise County. The district appraises property according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).

Wise County Appraisal District is responsible for the fair market appraisal of properties within each of the following taxing entities. Additional responsibilities include change of address and public information requests.
